Board of Directors

Eric Maldoff, President
Eric Maldoff is a partner in the national law firm of Heenan Blaikie. Mr. Maldoff is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Governors of McGill University, Chair of the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation, and Director of the MUHC. He has also held positions such as Chair of the Montreal Children’s Hospital, Vice-Chair of the MHUC, Vice-Chair of the Interim Governing Council which created the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), and founding Chair of Canada Health Infoway.  In 2001, Mr. Maldoff was inducted into the Order of Canada.

Glenn Munro, Vice Chair
Glenn Munro holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University. He is Managing Partner - Eastern Canada for North American Development Group, a retail shopping center developer; and the founding partner of Siteworks, a Montreal-based real estate brokerage and consulting firm.

Jill Martis, Vice Chair
A former social worker and long-time community volunteer in the health and social service sector, Jill Martis has been an Old Brewery Mission Board Member since 1999. Jill is the Chair of the Mission's Services Committee.

Philip E. Johnston, Secretary
Most of Philip E. Johnston's career has been in the financial services sector. He has held positions such as Vice Chairman for Eastern Canada of The Royal Trust Company and Executive Vice-President of Nova Steel Ltd.  Mr. Johnston has been working as a self-employed consultant for the past 12 years and is currently associated with MacDougall MacDougall & MacTier.  He is presently a Director of the Montreal Young Company, Chairman of the Constance Lethbridge Foundation, and Trustee Emeritus of Bishop's University. He also carries the Canadian Trust Companies Institute designation “MTI”

Ronald E. Lawless, OBM Chair Emeritus and President, Old Brewery Mission Foundation
Ron Lawless served on the Board of the Old Brewery Mission for over 20 years, much of that time as its President. He was formerly President and CEO of Canadian National Railways and Via Rail Canada. He is a member of the Order of Canada and holds Honorary Doctor of Law degrees from Bishop’s and Concordia Universities.

Morrie M. Cohen, Vice-President
Involved with the Old Brewery Mission for the past 26 years, Mr. M. Cohen is presently Vice-President of the Mission and Director of the Old Brewery Mission Foundation. 
Founder of Anabelle and Caroline Cosmetics, he is currently President of Modico Canada Ltd., as well as President of Modico Parking Inc. and Waitsfield Capital Inc. Mr. Cohen has also held various other positions, including founder of Auberge Shalom and Old Shoes, Board member of Centennial Academy, and Advisory Board member of Toujours Ensemble. In 2004, he was selected by the Dalai Lama as one of 48 people in the world whom he calls Heroes of Compassion.

 

John Aylen
John Aylen is a communications consultant with extensive experience in the health care, pharmaceutical, not-for-profit and corporate sectors. He has been a member of the Boardof Governors of Concordia University, is past president of the Concordia University Alumni Association and president of the board of Youth Employment Services.

Terry Mosher
Appointed to the Old Brewery Mission’s Board of Directors in 2001, Terry Mosher has worked as a political cartoonist for The Gazette for over 35 years. Mr. Mosher also shares his work in the Canadian edition of Reader's Digest Magazine. Over the course of his career, Terry Mosher has frequently appeared as a commentator on many of Canada’s major television and radio programs. He has also presented at various national conferences. Mr. Mosher was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in May 2003.

Suzanne Caron
Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences and a MBA in Finance, Suzanne Caron has worked for more than 20 years as a consultant in Information Systems and in Management, with accounting firms, with law firms such as Martineau Walker, Byers Casgrain and McMaster Meighen, then with Groupe Secor. In 1999, she was elected Municipal Councillor in the Town of Mount Royal, and later Mayor, until 2006.  She sits on the Board of the Refuge Juan Moreno, which offers shelter and assistance to women and children refugees.

 

Tribute to Frank Collins

The Board and indeed all at the OBM were so deeply saddened by the passing in November of 2010 of Mr. Frank Collins. As long time Treasurer and active Board member, Mr. Collins contribution and impact on the OBM will be felt for a great many years to come.
