Associate Director – Major Gifts

Reporting to the Executive Director of Development – Major Gifts, the Associate Director – Major Gifts will play a key role in supporting the organization’s major gift program and will be responsible for helping to ensure the smooth coordination of all major fundraising program activities in accordance with the plan and timetable.

The ideal candidate for this position is an organised, detail-oriented individual who is comfortable and confident interacting with major prospects and donors.  The position may involve a full range of donor cultivation duties, including working with other members of the development team to implement critical components of the strategic fundraising plan including planned giving, peer-to-peer fundraising, crowdfunding and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain liaison with external agencies, major donors and partners
  • Identify and prepare cultivation materials and strategies for prospects
  • Organize and participate in all the major gifts committee meetings
  • Actively participate in the identification and prioritization of major prospects
  • Organize cultivation and recognition events
  • Ensure on-going stewardship with major donors and prospects and respect specified deadlines
  • Produce correspondence materials and content (letters/proposals/reports)
  • Perform research as needed
  • Prepare and update the prospect donor list
  • Participate in the preparation of solicitation kits
  • Ensure donor information is up-to-date (database/paper files)
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

  • 5 years of fundraising experience
  • Knowledge of donor relations principles
  • Good knowledge of Raiser’s Edge considered an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with major campaigns and planned giving programs considered an asset

Education

  • University undergraduate/post-secondary degree required, preferably in Administration, Marketing, Sales or Communications
